If you can balance being a doctor and writing, then by all means become a doctor. But if you had to choose one, choose the one that will ultimately give you the most happiness. That passion could very well run out after a few years. You see, people sometimes lose interest in their hobbies if it becomes their job. But you could be different, I don’t know. Just take your time, have a really good think about it and talk to your parents. You’re right, they do want what’s best for you and have experienced what the real world is like. Their opinion is valuable if you want to leave the house as soon as possible.
